I begin creating each work with no preconceived idea of how it will turn out. I may pick a particular palette, but that could change as the process progresses.  I begin by placing a piece of clay, and that piece will suggest another piece of clay of a color and shape which in turn will suggest another choice and so on and so on.

 

The process of solving problems related to finding the color, shape and position of each piece of clay that feels right and balanced is the challenge.  The completed work is ultimately always a surprise to me, with is the great fun of having created it.
